Who We Are
Christian Academy of Laurel has been educating students in the Laurel area since 1971. Over our 50+ year history we have consistently followed the wisdom found in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.” Christian Academy of Laurel is made up of families, students and staff members from many backgrounds and many Christian denominations. One thing has always remained true for us: our desire to minister to children and families by providing a quality education in a safe Christian environment. Caring, helpful teachers guide students through a challenging, rigorous curriculum while helping them to navigate the process of growing and maturing, both in their faith and in their physical and intellectual attributes.
Starting in the 2019-2020 school year, First Baptist School of Laurel became Christian Academy of Laurel (CAL). Since many of our families, students and staff members are from various Christian denominations, we wanted our name to reflect who we really are. We are an inclusive school with many people from many faith backgrounds.
This change of name was the next natural progression in our 50+ year history. During these years of growth and change, one thing has remained constant, our faithfulness to Christ and to quality education. Our educational programs provide an environment that develops students academically, emotionally and spiritually. We continue to work on upgrading our curriculum to find challenging, rigorous materials to help in learning. We will continue to have quality, welcoming teachers in each classroom. Our new name reflects what we have always done.
